About Us

Our teachers are specially trained at university level with Early Childhood qualifications and our assistants have a minimum Certificate III in Children’s Services.

Teachers are VIT certified and undertake professional development activities to keep up to date with current teaching practices and develop new ideas. All staff at the centre have a current Working with Children Check as well as first aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis training.

The children call staff by their first names as we feel this is more informal and welcoming.

Dearne

“Hi, I’m Dearne and I am the 3-year-old teacher for the Green Group. I have a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) and am always studying to improve my knowledge of young children. I live on the Mornington Peninsula and have two children and a hubby. My interests are ballroom dancing, family time and walking our dog, Peppa. I look forward to welcoming you to Mordialloc Preschool where your child and family will have a wonderful time.”

Di

“My name is Di I’m a co-educator and work with both our 3-year-old and 4-year-old programs. I am passionate about offering a nurturing and caring environment to assist all children to develop to the best of their abilities. Outside of kinder, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy getting to know all of the Mordialloc Preschool families!”

Donna

“Hi I’m Donna and I have been teaching here at Mordialloc for over 15 years. I have had the opportunity to meet and develop wonderful relationships with many local families over the years. I have a Bachelor of Education (primary) and a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood and am always continuing to build on my skills and interests in the field through various professional development opportunities. I look forward to meeting you all and welcoming you as part of our Mordialloc Preschool Community.”

Georgie

“Hi, I am Georgie. I have a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies. I have years of experience as a kindergarten teacher and can happily say I love my job. To explore learning through play, to support children in following their interests and to work with children in a curriculum that encourages the development of skills from a basis of strength is a joy. I live in the Mornington Peninsula with my husband and three school-age children. We love good food, heading to the beach and family holidays. I joined the teaching team at Mordialloc Preschool in 2018. It’s a great kinder and I hope you enjoy your time here with us.”

Marg

“Hi, my name is Marg. I have been at Mordialloc Preschool a long time! As a mother of three children, I started as a parent helper and found that I really loved this job. I completed Certificate 3 in Early Childhood in 2011 and joined the teaching team. I have a keen interest in the natural sciences, which I love to share with children in our care both inside the playroom and outside in the kinder yard. I also enjoy sharing my interest in music, singing a few tunes with the children on the ukelele! “

Yvonne

“Hello, my name is Yvonne. I joined Mordialloc Preschool in 2019 and currently work with both 3-year-old and 4-year-old groups. I have a Diploma in Community Services (Children’s Services) and have worked in both Kindergarten and Child Care for a number of years. I am passionate about helping children develop confidence in their ability to learn, relate respectfully with others, and experience wonder in their world. I live with my husband in Frankston South and have three grown-up daughters in S.A.”

Parent Committee

The Committee is responsible for managing fundraising, social activities and supporting the teachers of the kindergarten. It acts on behalf of all members of the kindergarten, e.g. parents. The Committee is made up of current parents who volunteer their time to undertake many important tasks.

The Committee is elected each year in November at the Annual General Meeting. Our Model Rules provide for four office bearers – president, vice president, treasurer and secretary – and other Committee members undertaking roles such as fundraising, events, maintenance, social/roster duty and newsletter/communications.

The service provided by the Committee is vital to the smooth running of the kindergarten. Meetings are once a month at the kindergarten or online. A list of Committee members and contact numbers is available from the office.

Parents are welcome to contact members of the Committee through the kindergarten,
by phone, or by email at president@mordiallocpreschool.org.au  If you wish to attend a committee meeting or have copies of minutes or agendas passed on to you, please contact the secretary in advance so arrangements can be made.

All parents at the kindergarten are also actively involved in regular rostered kinder duty and one working bee per year.

The Committee always welcomes new volunteers to join in helping make our kinder great! Email our president if you are interested – president@mordiallocpreschool.org.au
